Artist Statement

I use to think the purpose of me being an artist and starting to paint was just a career choice because I loved doing it from a child. It made sense to pursue it as a career. But through out my career I’ve learned the importance of art and artists. I’ve learned what’s important about what I do. I’ve learned that art is a tool for communicating, teaching and inspiring. I’ve seen how a single painting can touch people more than anything I could ever say in words. Art is a language that all people speak that cuts across racial, cultural, social, educational, and economic barriers. And it is a necessity in establishing culture in any community. Being an artist is a continuing learning experience that is naturally part of my path. My journey along this path slowly revealed to me that being an artist wasn‘t my decision. It is who I am, the premise of my purpose, a choice did not exist. And I’m thankful for it.
